Chrysanthemum
Chrysanthemum is a good book for discussing individualism and self acceptance. Chrysanthemum is being picked on for being different, but later she is reminded that it's okay to be different because she is perfect just the way she is. It is also good to read when teaching internal and external conflicts. I would use it in a third, fourth, or fifth grade classroom.
